Click here for their Wish List Welcome from our Co-Presidents Marion Kirohn & Mary Devine-Benz ![]() Throughout The Fairbanks Garden Club's history, it has maintained a close relationship with the historic 1637 Fairbanks House Museum, the oldest wood-frame house in North America.
Our garden club maintains perennial borders at the historic homestead and volunteers at the Fairbanks Family in America reunions each summer. In 1982, the club designed and documented a colonial herb garden at the house for which the club won an award from The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. In addition to maintaining gardens at the Fairbanks House, the club plants a courtyard at a local nursing home, maintains two historical markers, decorates holiday wreaths for local institutions, makes donations to the Dedham Food Pantry, and holds an annual plant sale. The club meets the third Wednesday of the month from September through May, except for January. Unless otherwise noted, we meet at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at the town-owned Endicott Estate, 656 East Street, Dedham. Following lunch, we hold a business meeting and have either a speaker or a workshop. The Fairbanks Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. |

The Fairbanks HouseThe Fairbanks House in Dedham, MA is thought to be the oldest standing timber frame building in North America. Built circa 1637-1641 for Jonathan and Grace Fairebanke and their six children, it was home to eight generations of the Fairbanks family.
The Fairbanks House is now an historic house museum, open annually May 1 -- October 31. |
The Endicott EstateSituated on 15 acres of rolling lawns surrounded by century old elms, spruce and weeping willow trees, the twenty-five room Estate boasts eleven fireplaces and provides a charm and elegance rarely found today.
An architectural gem, the Endicott Estate has the distinction of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places and plays a vital role in the local community and beyond as a place for year-round recreation, weddings, corporate and private events, art shows, car shows, summer concerts and movie filming. |
Dedham, MADedham, Massachusetts is located southwest of Boston and was Settled in 1635 by people from Roxbury and Watertown, Dedham was incorporated in 1636. It became the county seat of Norfolk County when the county formed on March 26, 1793. When the Town was originally incorporated, the residents wanted to name it Contentment. The Massachusetts General Court overruled them and named the town after Dedham, Essex in England, where some of the original inhabitants were born.
